Golden Girls DVD - The Complete Fifth Season
One of the most popular television shows of the 1980s, THE GOLDEN GIRLS was created by television writer Susan Harris (SOAP). The show centered on four elderly single women living in the same house together, all played by sitcom veterans: cynically sensible Dorothy (Bea Arthur), sweet but gullible Rose (Betty White), raunchy Blanche (Rue McClanahan), and Dorothy's outspoken mother, Sophia (Estelle Getty). The program was nominated for many Emmy and Golden Globe awards, and was consistently in Nielsen's top 10 for its entire run, garnering both critical acclaim and public popularity. It also proved daring for its time: not only did it tackle sensitive political issues, but it
was a prime-time show whose main characters were much older than television's desired demographic. This release contains the entire fifth season.

Golden Girls on DVD: Season One
THE GOLDEN GIRLS won an Emmy its first year on the air. TVs favorite silver foxes Beatrice Arthur, Rue McClanahan, Betty White and Estelle Getty star as elderly roommates on a mission to prove life really does begin at 65. In the first season, the women have romantic prospects that turn out to be more challenging than they originally seemed. In "Second Motherhood," Blanche likes her new boyfriend until she discovers he has several small children. "The Engagement" sees Harry proposing to Blanche, but Rose has strong doubts about him. For the episode titled "Guess Who's Coming to the Wedding?" Dorothy grudgingly agrees to see her hated ex-husband at their daughter's wedding, and in "Rose the Prude," Rose goes on a cruise with a man who wants to share the same room. To the show's credit, THE GOLDEN GIRLS, explores many topics relevant to modern senior citizens, many of which were previously unexplored in television and film.
