Hunter - Season One Former football star Fred Dryer starred for many years as HUNTER , television's answer to DIRTY HARRY. Hunter is a renegade police detective who does anything it takes to bring down those criminals who prey on the innocent, provoking the ire of his superiors. They decide to team him with Dee Dee McCall (Stepfanie Kramer), a beautiful female cop who's just as single minded and tough to get along with as Hunter himself. HUNTER combined hard-hitting action (many critics in the 1980s, while the show was initially broadcast, criticized its violence) with mispaired-buddy comedy reminiscent of the LETHAL WEAPON series.
