Life Goes On: Season One
This ground-breaking television show introduced America to the Thatcher family: married couple Drew and Libby; their daughter Becca, brilliant but socially awkward; and Corky, a boy with Down Syndrome (played by Chris Burke, an actual teenager with Down syndrome). The realistic and unusual show dealt with a variety of real-life issues, from mental handicaps to HIV. Most of the first season (presented here in its entirety) revolved around Corky's attempts to "mainstream," to attend normal high school rather than special education classes. In addition to the television episodes, this release provides commentary by Burke, and also shows him touring with his three-piece folk music group.
